How to make your slippery garden areas safer
Slips are the number one cause of injuries around the garden, slippery outdoor timber steps and decking areas can often be the culprit. Exterior wood steps can become slippery over time, especially when wet. A quick and easy way to protect against slips is to add non-slip decking strips, here's a recent selection of our customers' projects.
A very steep garden slope with sleeper steps
"This was a project to install steps on a very steep garden slope that has been ongoing through the winter and only just finished. I installed the anti-slip strips obviously from a safety point of view but also to highlight the steps without being obtrusive. The Woodland Colourdec strips were ideal for this purpose blending ideally with the railway sleeper steps and giving very good grip (as the postman commented this morning!). Never having attempted anything like this in the past, the advice and help from your company was much appreciated." M Hole.
Summer house with a decking pathway slip-hazard
"After a scary fall on my wet Summer House decking I decided to do something to make the surface non-slip. I was wearing cycling shoes at the time of the fall which have a very smooth sole. After looking at various 'non-slip' coatings I decided I wanted a permanent maintenance free solution that was quick and easy to install. The decking/pathway to the Summer House is a complex shape so I marked out exactly where each strip was going to be installed. I ordered my cut to length pre-drilled lengths and they arrived a few days afterwards.Installation could not have been easier, I did countersink the screws a little which worked well. I am delighted with the result." P Anspach.
